Accommodation

We have found that this website is really very good for finding accommodation

www.capestay.co.za

The wedding is in a southern suburb of Cape Town called Hout Bay. Its just over half an hour drive from the main Cape Town CBD.

Additionally, we went to see a self catering place that is literally 500yds from the wedding venue. It was really excellent, and Alex's parents and sister have made a booking there already. Tessa will be there to get ready before the ceremony. As you'll see from the website, its won lots of tourism awards too. With this said, its quite pricey.. but do check out

www.houtkapperspoort.co.za

Suburbs that are a reasonable distance from the venue, and also suitably central for the rest that Cape Town has to offer include:

Camps Bay, Newlands, Claremont, Constantia, Hout Bay, Bishopscourt, Wynburg.

House Sharing

Becasue they are so well situated, close to beaches, with dramatic mountain or sea views, these southern suburbs tend to be a bit pricey.

One thing we saw a lot of on Cape Stay was large multi room houses to rent. These might be 3 or 4-double bed ensuite rooms with a pool, Braai and view. On its own it would be prohibitive, but if you're interested to enjoy this luxury and dont mind sharing a kitchen, then do email and we'll put people in touch.

Car Hire

While there are some buses, trains and minibus taxis that operate in Cape Town, they have a dubiuos safety record (in the case of taxis this is driver safety not personal possessions safety!). This means that car hire is recommended. You wont spend all your time driving as Cape Town is a small city really, and easy to get around between 9 and 4 (earlier or later you catch a killer rush hour!

Please email info@alexwhyatt.com if you want to ask any questions about any of this....
